These Songs Are Getting Me Psyched For Halloween 2014

Football is finally back, and that makes me extremely happy. Ya know what makes me happier? October is right around the corner. It’s almost Halloween season, y’all! I have been busy scouting the new crop of Halloween decor at Richmond’s discount retailers and also adding some new songs to my official Halloween playlist. That got me in the mood to listen to some tunes that are currently getting me AMPED for October.

Listen to these 10 festive songs and get overly enthusiastic about Halloween season like me:

1. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Red Right Hand

Nick Cave’s sultry, deep voice highlights my ultimate Halloween song. It channels Milton’s Paradise Lost and makes me feel like I’m walking down a dark alley I shouldn’t be in.

2. Monarchy – Disintegration

Dita Von Teese in a dark music video about repressed sexual urges? Sold.

3. Type O Negative – Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare All)

It’s 11:15 of Halloween.  ‘Nuff said.

4. Mirah – Special Death

Beautifully disturbing. From Season 1 of American Horror Story.

5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll

This gets me so excited for “Witches Night Out 2014”!

6. Lana Del Rey – Once Upon A Dream

This shit genuinely terrifies me, Lana.

7. Suicide – Frankie Teardrop

I’m not sure what’s going on in this song, but it’s freaking me out.

8. Tom Waits – Singapore

This song sounds like it should be in a Disney movie and/or Broadway musical about Halloween.

9. Interpol – Evil

Who doesn’t love a little ditty about a couple serial killers?

10. Violent Femmes – Country Death Song

I love songs that tell a story. This story is about murder.

BONUS: Throbbing Gristle – Hamburger Lady

Horror movies in the ’70s were better. Creepy music in the ’70s was creepier. HOLY SHIT THIS SONG IS CREEPY.
