31 Nights of Horror, Night 13: The Exorcist
Three sentence review:
If you’re surprised that I haven’t reviewed The Exorcist on this blog yet, so am I. During my childhood many grown-ups referred to it as the “scariest movie of all time” and “the gold standard in horror”; both sentiments suggested a folkloric quality as though I had an obligation to continue its legend (weird, I know). What I find most fascinating about The Exorcist, the first horror movie to be nominated for “Best Picture”, is the longevity of its impact; new and old audiences are still terrified by this film even 41 years later.
