31 Nights of Horror, Night 21: Evil Dead (2013)
Three sentence review:
I recently received the 2013 remake of Evil Dead as a gift from my dear friend Michael and I was stoked to watch it for the second time. Daring to reboot a beloved horror classic like Evil Dead may seem as dumb as messing around with the Necronomicon, but with the guidance of OGs Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert, the new Evil Dead gives the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre some competition as my favorite horror remake. Obviously nothing will ever top the original, but there’s a satiable amount of gnarly gore and Director Fede Alvarez didn’t even use any CGI (for that reason alone I could kiss him; CGI in horror is the WORST).
