31 Nights of Horror, Night 18: Alien
Let us all give thanks to the 1979 mothership that started them all and taught us that in space, no one can hear you scream. Though Sigourney Weaver’s “Ripley” and acid drooling xenomorphs are the stars of the film, its greatest strength in my opinion is the slow and deliberate build up of why and how and what and where everything goes to hell for the doomed crew of the starship Nostromo. Alien is quite simply the masterpiece of sci-fi horror films.
